오래전에 봤던 영화였는데 리액션 보며 저도 함께 같이 울었네요ㅠㅠ 영어를 몰라 무슨 대화를 했는지는 모르지만 표정으로 대충 느꼈어요. 저의 작은 바램은 한글 자막버전도 있었으면 좋겠네요ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Great Film Great Acting Great Ending. Somehow it reminds me of se7en. Still may favorite horror all the time.

The real Taxi Driver, Kim Sahbok, was not an oblivious citizen like this movie portrays. He actually drove a very luxurious black taxi and was an excellent driver. He volunteered to drive Hinzpeter to Gwangju out of good will and his faith in democracy. The checkpoint scene before the final chase, where the sergeant realizes Hinzpeter is a reporter and Kim his chauffeur, is real. The sergeant knew, but let them through. The hollywood style chase that happened right after that point isn't. The producers added that. I don't know why they did it, it just made the movie look unnecessarily fake and corny. The actual roadblocks and checkpoints in real life were way more unforgiving and deadly. The paved roads that connected Gwangju to the outside, the special forces 3rd parachute brigade most notably, set up ambushes and opened up on any cars that came close to their posts. With automatic weapons and rifles, often to the cars that just got inspected, and were turning back. They hit civilians in the back. Dozens of citizens who tried to escape fell to their trap, a lot of them were put in a shallow graves in the local mountains and makeshift holes. The regular army soldiers, the training division, wildly pulled their triggers on just about anything that moved from their moving vehicles towards the villages that surrounded Gwangju. Dozens of children were lost, hit by bullets from M16s and 30 cal machine guns. In one occasion, this training unit mistook the Special Forces paratroopers for the citizen's militia and opened up their recoilless rifle(anti-tank cannon) and small arms fire on Special forces convoy. There is a memoir from a whistleblower, then Special forces conscript, who was on the truck that was struck. It tore apart several of his sergeants and officers and severely injured him, taking him out of action. This friendly fire incident caused the special force troopers to go to the nearest village, "capturing" and summarily ending several civilians lives. Yeah. Gwangju tragedy was more severe and violent than any movie could ever portray. There are government atrocities of greater scale, but it shows how beastly average humans can become when they are under authoritarian regime.
